Busan Foreign School

Tessa Crewe comes to us from New Zealand. This is her second year at BFS, and her fifth year teaching. Tessa obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and TESOL certification from Sydney, Australia. She is passionate about teaching and is excited to be teaching middle school science this year.

Mr. Deutman received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Linguistics and a minor in American Literature from San Francisco State University. He conducted field work at the Community College of San Francisco, studying immigrant second language acquisition. He worked for two years in the Learning Assistance Center at City College of San Francisco tutoring college-aged ESL students in writing. This is his fourth year working at BFS.

Mrs. Engle earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas. Mrs. Engle has been teaching English / ESL since 1996, with various types of students in Korea, the Philippines, and the U.S. Mrs. Engle is a certified high school English teacher in the state of Arizona.

Ms. Wood received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Advertising from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Additionally, she received a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Minnesota in Duluth, Minnesota. At the same university, Ms. Wood also completed her K-12 teaching licensure in Special Education, with dual-licensure in Emotional Behavioral Disorders and Specific Learning Disabilities. She has studied French since middle school and French continued to be her second language throughout her university studies. Ms. Wood is a certified teacher in the state of Minnesota in the United States. She has been in the teaching profession for four years.

Mr. Engle received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in Journalism and completed his Master’s of Education degree from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia. Mr. Engle taught for five years at Tongmyong College in Busan and was an ESL teacher and curriculum coach for eight years at West Phoenix High School and Maya High School in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mz. Jennings received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics with minors in Education and General Science from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan. She did further study and received a specialty in middle school education. Mz. Jennings is a certified teacher in the state of Arizona with training in ESL classroom techniques and has more than 20 years experience in education, including tutoring students in a variety of subjects. She has also been involved in coaching and directing recreational activities.

Ms. Mallozzi received her Bachelor of Arts degree with specialized honors in Religious Studies and completed her Bachelor of Education degree for the junior/intermediate levels at York University in Ontario, Canada. Ms. Mallozzi has experience teaching a variety of age groups and subject areas. She has also taught students with special needs and ELL students.

 Mr. McMaster earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the College of Charleston, South Carolina and a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of the Virgin Islands. He holds a middle and high school teaching certification from the U.S. Virgin Islands and has more than ten years experience teaching history in the U.S. and the Virgin Islands.

Richard has taught for approximately fourteen years, six at universities in Busan and, most recently, eight teaching middle grades as a certified teacher in the Toronto Catholic School Board. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario, a diploma in Accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Bachelor of Education from Brock University in Ontario, and a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from the University of British Columbia. He is enthusiastic to be back teaching in Busan.

Mr. Quagliozzi received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree with a joint major in History and Political Science from Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey. He has over two years experience teaching, coaching, and coordinating after-school community recreation programs for elementary aged students in New Jersey. This is his second year teaching in South Korea.

Mr. Crewe joins BFS from Canada. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Biology and Environmental Science from Dalhousie University. He has been teaching in Korea for four years and is in his second year teaching at BFS. This year he will be teaching high school science and serving as the technical coordinator. Jason is currently enrolled in a Master of Education program at the University of New Brunswick.

Mr. Cabrera received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics from Concordia University College of Alberta. He has three years of experience teaching Mathematics at BFS, three years of experience teaching ESL in Korea, and over five years experience coaching youth soccer in Canada.

Ms. Ogle received her Bachelor of Science in English education, with a focus in secondary levels, from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. She is a certified high school English teacher in the State of Florida and also has her TESOL certification in working with foreign students. Ms. Ogle has experience working in many classrooms and also coaching swimming in the U.S. for over four years.

Ms. Hwang is a graduate of Busan Art High School and has extensive experience teaching children’s art classes. She also possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and Printing from Dong-A University. This is her seventh year working at BFS.

Ms. Kim holds a Master’s degree in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Pusan University of Foreign Studies. She also holds a secondary school teaching certificate. Additionally, Ms. Kim is a certified Korean language instructor. She has extensive experience teaching Korean and traditional Korean percussion.
